The Agency for Domestic Assistance (AfH) is expanding its range of services and now offers daily support and domestic assistance for people with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). Staff members are currently being trained to work with individuals who have this neurobiological disorder.

About ADHD

ADHD is the most common psychiatric disorder in children and adolescents. Currently, about 5% of children and adolescents aged 3 to 17 are affected. The disorder is about four times more common in boys than in girls, and in about 60% of those affected, significant symptoms persist into adulthood.

Managing daily life can be a major challenge for those affected: difficulties with self-organization, poor concentration, emotional instability, and frequent social conflicts.

Support in everyday life

Caring for and attending to a child with ADHD often takes up the entire day. As a result, other responsibilities—including household chores—can fall by the wayside. AfH informs adults and parents of children with ADHD about their eligibility for household assistance.

This will assist you with the following tasks:

  • Household chores (cleaning, laundry, cooking, grocery shopping)
  • Keep the children entertained through play or encourage physical activity
  • Homework help (upon request)
  • Keeping an eye on the stimulating environment—especially after school or daycare

Less stress, more structure, and tangible relief for those affected and their families: We support you with care and reliability, and offer helpful tips for managing daily life with ADHD.

Eligibility for benefits for those affected

Once a care level has been determined, those affected can receive benefits for qualified home care services through the long-term care insurance fund.

A person is entitled to relief benefits if the condition results in significant limitations on their independence or abilities (Section 14 of Book XI of the Social Code).
